Harley’s little black holiday book – the fish party

Well, we are all back home again and as alwys Harley wanted to throw a party for her friends. She ordered lotl of different fish rolls ( which I had to make).

Of course there were also drinks and the girls had a lot of fun. Harley wanted to see if the fish tastes differently if you eat it upside down. Well, she always has funny ideas …

There was also a fish barbecue for the girls who wanted warm food. Harley 2 seemed to like that better. Or did she want the beer from under the table?

It’s all about Barbie!

I keep telling myself – “ I’ve got over Barbie, I moved on to other dolls like BJDs and Smart dolls, there is nothing new in the Barbie world“ – and … I’m always proved wrong. Barbie gets me again and again and I always discover new dolls that I want in my collection ( where will I find space for them !!!), but (unfortunately) older Barbies are also fascinating and maybe I will add some more to my collection.

Well … I went to the Barbie exhibition in Bruchsal a few days ago. Here are some impressions. It was not easy to decide which dolls to take with me – I decided on Laurie (a former astronaut Barbie I have rebodied for more poseability) and Rainbow ( Barbie extra 5)

I find vintage Barbies interesting, but I don’t have any in my collection. I like to look at them, but they lack the poseability I like so much.

Laurie admired Barbie Totally Hair – I must confess – I like her, too.

Barbies that were produced after 2000 are more my kind of dolls as I started collecting in 2013.

Rainbow thought the Rock Concert fascinating.

Hollywood – I’m always fascinated how similar to real people some dolls look.

Barbie – Disney

Another big event was the Barbie movie.

And of course some new dolls entered my collection.

Waiting for more … I’d love the Weird Barbie and Alan.

Harley’s little black holiday book – part 3

Day 10 – today we could finally go to the beach. The weather was still not very warm but at least it didn’t rain anymore. Quinn was very excited, she wanted to go into the water which was very cold and after that she wanted to play with a ball.

We had sandy feet.

Hawkie and Frost decided to relax in beach chairs.

We ate ice cream …

…and looked at the skyline of Stralsund.

We spend the rest of the day packing our things.

Day 11- We left Stralsund today and drove to Potsdam. We spend the next three days in a huge hotel with a big pool.

Day 12 – We visited Sanssouci today. I had already been there two years ago with Starfire and Bumblebee. So I wanted to visit another part of the garden this time.

We entered the garden through the New Palais.

I think Hawkie liked the garden…

… and the Chinese Tea House.

I liked the fountains and statues.

Day 13 – we packed our things and went to Weißenfels. The last part of our journey.

We are finally home again. The girls want us to have a party with fish rolls and beer and tell them about our trip. So it’s time to start the preparations.

Day 6 – on Sunday it was very rainy and windy, so we decided to go to the aquarium.

Inside it was very full of people, but it was quite interesting and there were many fish.

After the aquarium we bought some fish and chips, but had to eat it at home because it was so rainy and windy.

Day 7 – Peenemünde

We went to the isle of Rügen again, to an industrial museum. We didn’t think it would be funny at first, but there were many interesting things to explore.

It rained quite heavily, so we got quite wet and were happy to stay inside the main building. But some of the exhibits were outside. Luckily therain finally stopped.

I chased Quinn about – I wanted to shoot her to the moon using one of the rockets, because she kept talking all the time. But – the rockets were wet, so it didn’t work.

And then we visited another submarine. Our male human alway finds them and always wants to visit them. For us it’s boring because we have to stay inside the doll bag. Dolls are not allowed on submarines.

On our way home we visited the old ruins of a monastery. We didn’t have enough time as it started to rain again.

Day 8 – there is nothing to say about this day – we just chilled.

Day 9 – We went by ship today! It rained again, so we had to stay inside the ship cabin. Luckily it stopped raining at the end, so we could see the white cliffs of Rügen.

Harley’s little black holiday book – part 1

As my humans decided that they needed some time to relax after the many things they had been doing the past few days, I finally had some time to write in my little holiday book. So here we go …

Day 1 – Our holiday started on Monday. We sat in the car all day, so it was quite boring. In the evening we arrived in our holiday flat in Stralsund. We were very tired and spent the rest of the evening relaxing.

Day 2 – On Tuesday it rained a lot. Our humans went to town to buy a few things. Hawkie and I wanted to go with them and even put on our rain jackets, but it was too wet, so we stayed at home.

Day 3 – Finally some action. We went to the north of the Isle of Rügen by car. The last mile we went on foot. At the north point, called Kap Arkona, there were two lighthouses.

I really wanted to see what was behind that bench …

There was also an old bunker that we visited – our humans thought it interesting … well, for us it wasn’t…

Behind the scenes.

There was a boat and a wreck. I think I liked the wreck more – I felt like a pirate.

There was also a radar tower. Our humans went on top, so we had to go, too.

We went to the northermost point. There was a nice beach, but we had to go down a steep staircase to reach it.

Hawkie and I had a lot of fun on some sort of old machine.

At the end of the day we had cake in a little café.

Day 4- Today we did a little tour of Stralsund. Quinn went with me – she was very excited. We went around the harbour and saw the Gorch Fock, from the outside, because it is being repaired.

The tour went through one of the town gates.

There were the town walls.

…and a huge church.

At lunchtime it started to rain heavily, so we stopped by a restaurant, had something to eat and drink. Quinn liked the beer a little too much.

In the evening our humans went to an open air theater, so we had a free evening. Quinn talked a lot of rubbish – must have been the beer.

Day 5 – We went to Rügen again today. This time it was Sassnitz, bacause there is a submarine.

First we had a fish roll in a little restaurant of a fish cannery. I think Frosty likes fish so I will have to organise fish rolls for her when we are back home.

Then we visited the submarine and the harbour.

Nearby there were some old ruins from the time of the 2nd World War – the Prora.

We drove back through many alleys – these kinds of roads are typical for the area. It was quite funny – at first…

Day 6 – Relaxing!!!

As I already said – our humans wanted a quieter day today. We had breakfast in a little café.

Then we had a little walk through the town. There are many old houses with interesting fronts from the late Middle Ages.

The walk ended with the town walls.

Our humans want to go to the cinema this evening. We will probably relax at home – it’s not a superheroes film, so it’s not interesting for us.

Let’s go camping

Some of the girls decided to go camping last weekend. As always Vivi took the lead and found a way through the woods.

Nicki was not very happy. She didn’t want to go hiking and camping – it was too hot, she said. She fell and hurt her knee, but Celine (Crumbs) proved to be a good nurse.

The girls were very hungry after the long walk, so they made a fire. Vivi prepared pancakes, Nella roasted the sausages while Pia was responsible for the dessert.

After dinner Nella and Crumbs played frisbee…

… while Vivi took a few photos of the surroundings.

In the evening the girls still talked a little before they went to sleep in their tents.

Nicki was so tired she fell asleep outside the tent. I don’t think she will ever go camping again.

Let’s go rollerskating!

As the weather was sunny and warm all the time, some of the girls decided to go rollerskating.

Billy and Celine (called Crumbs) skated in the sun. Of course basecaps were very important.

Breaks were also important. Billy likes chocolate, but she shouldn’t eat too much – a slice of watermelon is much healthier. ( At least Crumbs thinks so)

Baby joined the Skatergang for the first time – she was a little afraid. But of course Cookie was a patient teacher.

Breaks for enjoying cool drinks were also important.

Finally the four girls did a tour together.

Moxie Teenz – Liv’s bigger sisters (?)

I find Moxie Teenz quite amazing dolls – they have very beautiful faces ( which is typical for MGA dolls) and are articulated, although not as poseable as I would like and quite delicate. They are taller than Barbies – 14″, which makes it difficult to find outfits and especially shoes for them.

They came in three series – one and two with wigs and three rooted. I don’t have any dolls from series two, because they were very hard to get and the differences to series one were not so big – only the outfits and maybe the make up a little bit.

Here are the characters:

  1. Melrose

2. Tristen

3. Arizona

4. Bijou

5. Gavin and Leigh

6. Tanja

She is not a MT doll but a Tattoo Diva – her face remindend me of the Moxie Teenz though. I thought of rebodying her on a more poseable body , but decided against it because she is so unique.

Simba dolls

I do not have many Simba dolls. Although I love the sweet Steffi love faces, there is not a great variety in them. So here is my Steffi love collection. The dark haired girl is a Mystic Girlz doll, also by Simba – a special line with a little Gothic touch. On the right is an older Steffi doll.

The older Steffi doll came with a horse – I bought her in a thrift store. The other Simba horse is from ebay. I love the fluffy horses that Simba made, they have more the feeling of a real animal than the shiny plastic Mattel horses. I think they look quite realistic although there is no articulation at all.

Other Mattel dolls were the Simba Supermodels – a few years ago you could still find them in stores. They also had a Twilight Teenz series( the two girls on the left ,with gray and white skin tones) – probably inspired my MH dolls. The bodies are not very high quality but still have good articulation.

Liv Doll Collection

For a long time ( until Barbie Made to Move came up) Liv Dolls were the most poseable dolls I owned. I still love them and find their faces with inset eyes very impressive.

I found Abbey Love in a thrift store. She has many similarities to Liv Dolls.

When the Snap Stars Dolls came up a few years ago I was very excited. Their faces look very similar to the Liv faces. The bodies are much tinier, but still poseable. I decided to keep them on their original bodies as Mini Mes for the Livs.

And this is where the Liv Dolls live. They have got their own room and clearly love watching TV.

The Mini Mes take after their big sisters.
