Before the summer holidays are coming to an end we decided to go on a little weekend trip to Augsburg. Our companions this time were Frankie 10 and Frankie 11.

We arrived in the late afternoon and, after checking in at our hotel, we went out to eat something and then we walked about a little. The night was great, warm and with a full moon that could be seen through a light haze.

The next day we had breakfast in a little cafè which has many organic and vegan products.

The cafè is located in the former Slaughterhouse area. I think it is wonderful that an area with such a bloody past has been put now to a new use. You also find other restaurants and pubs in the area.

After breakfast we visited a train museum. The Frankies – and my husband 🙂 – had lots of fun exploring everything.

We also had a little something to eat and drink in the museum café.

In the afternoon we had a walk along the river Lech. There is a canal that people use to train rafting, there is a lock and a power plant.

In the evening we went to the cinema – popcorn and adrink are a must. .

The next day we visited one of my favourite museums in Augsburg – TIM – a textile museum that always has interesting exhibitions and walked about the area where there used to be lots of cloth factories. Nowadays the buildings have been put to other uses – there are museum, caf’es and spaces for workshops. .

I think the Frankies enjoyed the trip a lot.
