Dear diary,
we have already been at home since Wednesday night and finally I have time to write my comments on the last few days of our holiday.
So let’s remember what happened ….

So, on Sunday we got up, packed our things and checked out in our hotel in La Rochelle. We had breakfast in the park – just bought a cup of coffee from McCafé and a little food in a nearby supermarket.

Before we left La Rochelle we went to an old submarine base – we could not go near it, so we didn’t see much.

Much more interesting was the busy market we went to after that.
Then we went on to Saint Nazaire – our next stop. Everything was quiet because it was Sunday. Although it was late, we could spend some time at the beach before the sun went down.

I could collect some shells .

On the next day we visited another submarine base. This time we could see more and even go inside.

There was even a sunken ship.

Oh… Betty Boop had been here, too?

Art or music or both?

In the back the famous Pont du Saint-Nazaire over the river Loire.

We could not get tickets to see the submarine, so we just bought a model of it.

Then we went on to our next stop – Chisseaux. We checked in our hotel and relaxed because we were so tired. When we wanted to go out an eat something we realized – Chisseaux was … the end of the world – the only supermarket was already closed and the only restaurant was completely full. So we got into the car and drove around a little to find something. Luckily we found a little stall that sold pizzas. We had to wait 45 minutes for our pizza because there were so many people. So, when we finally got it at 21:30, we were very hungry.

The next day we had a typically French breakfast – coffee and „viennoiserie“-s – that’s how the French people call their croissants and and similar things. I called my friends at home on the phone and told them we would be home soon while Batty read something about the castles of the Loire.

We decided to visit Chenonceau – it was the nearest castle to our hotel. Batty had chosen to wear a dress – she said she wanted to be elegant for a visit in a castle.

It was very hot again, but luckily I found a pond to cool my feet in.

So – that was our journey. The next day was quite boring as we drove in the car for many hours to get home. Luckily there were no detours or traffic jams.
The following two days was all about going shopping for food – the fridge was totally empty, washing and cleaning things.
So today finally we had time to check our souvenirs.

Now I have to prepare the Homecoming party I always have with my DCSuperhero friends after the holidays.
I will tell you all about it – stay tuned.
